Sports

Sports, sports, sports, where do I begin? I have loved sports my whole life. I grew up playing baseball and basketball  but gave up playing baseball to focus solely on basketball (with a sprinkle of tennis to keep the tennis program alive) during high school. My dream growing up was to play basketball at the University of North Carolina. Well, that did not go as planned. I initially attended Clemson University to get a degree in Computer Engineering. However, that did not go as planned. I ultimately decided to transfer majors and get my degree in Marketing with an emphasis in Sport Marketing  instead. I loved sports and business so I decided to combine those passions into a degree program.

While at Clemson University, I coordinated basketball tournaments for the Clemson University Residence Hall Association and Project Life Foundation as well as represented the spirit of the Clemson community at home football games, pep rallies, and community events for the Clemson University Athletic Department as the Microphone Man for the Cheerleading Squad. I also interned with the now-defunct Spartanburg (SC) Stingers Baseball Club (now the Forest City (NC) Owls) as the Marketing & Game Day Experience Intern.

In the Spartanburg (SC) community, I took my love for sports and decided to work with Cox Sports Broadcasting for a few months in 2008 as a guest sports broadcaster, even having my own segment entitled On The Mic w/ Dynamite!, a show outlining the business of sports on and off the field. In the early part of 2010, I decided to become a sports writer for Centered Magazine, a now-defunct collegiate men’s magazine. I did that for a couple of months but decided that when the time came for me to do my own thing in sports, then I would do so. Early this year, I decided to coach two basketball teams for Upward Sports at Holston Creek Baptist Church in Inman, SC. I realized that coaching youth, even though it can be stressful, was something that I was born to do. It is not always about wins and loses (even though I like to win all the time). It is about being a positive influence in the lives of the players that you coach. I absolutely loved being a coach and a mentor to my players and look forward to my continuation as a basketball coach with Upward Sports in the future. Recently, another coaching opportunity was presented to me with Mega Sports Camp at Crossroads Church in Spartanburg, SC. I now will be coaching basketball throughout the entire summer with youth.

I also look forward to reviving my On The Mic w/ Dynamite! concept and develop it into a weekly sports rap-up broadcast on YouTube.

I will post sports developments periodically on my website.
